The Nosferatu are a UK gothic rock band playing rousing rock anthems, with thunderous guitars and exquisite symphonic orchestration, combined with booming baritone vocals.
The Nosferatu were formed from the ashes of the original Rise era Nosferatu, a band Vlad Janicek formed in 1987.
The band gained attention despite the malaise in the UK press and record industry against gothic rock and eventually established their own label with distribution deals in the UK with Red Rhino/Vital, Germany with EFA, and USA/Mexico with Cleopatra.
Despite little UK coverage, the band scored several Indie Chart Top 20 positions in the UK, often battling against many Indie labels that were subsidiaries of major labels with big promotional budgets.
The band has a legendary status among the Goth scene, famed for songs with an undeniably cinematic feel. Songs like Rise, Dark Angel and Vampyres Cry cemented their place in gothic rock history and they continue to play both old and new material live.
The original band imploded in 1994 and this led to the ex-guitarist forming an unauthorized version with a completely new lineup.
In 2019 Vlad Janicek felt the time was right to return and made contact with Louis DeWray with a view to re-establishing a credible and authentic Nosferatu. To differentiate themselves they chose to call the band The Nosferatu.
Vlad Janicek original main songwriter and Louis De Wray original vocalist and lyricist spearhead their revival of classic gothic rock with a mission to deliver sonic beauty with no compromises.
