Saigon Blue Rain | Cold Wave / France
Saigon Blue Rain was formed in September 2012 by Ophelia and Franck. Their first eponymous EP, released in 2013 has been critically acclaimed. Then, they released three albums between 2012 and 2019 which gave them the opportunity to perform in famous festivals of the gothic scene such as Wave Gotik Treffen, NCN festival, Eine Nacht Im Bergwerk, or Tomorrows Ghosts Festival in Whitby to support the Swiss band The Beauty Of Gemina. on their 2016 German tour,
This duo combines French roots with the typical wavey sound that reminds us of classical new-wave such as The Cure, And Also The Trees, and Cocteau Twins, melted with shoegaze and dream pop influences. They form a sound image that you won’t hear every day.
In April 2023 they released their latest album Oko.
"Oko (eye in the Czech language) is the eye that closes to give way to our dreams and buried nightmares during different phases of sleep. The moment that we dread as much as we wait for it; when at nightfall, the reminiscences of childhood are struggling in their last jolt to give way to guilty desires.
The eye that's now accepting to look at the unacceptable becomes in turn intrusive, voyeur, or inquisitive.
Oko is an album consisting of incisive dark-electro sounds mixed with dark and intense melodies, illustrating as many nocturnal scenes that can be reinterpreted infinitely by each listener. An invitation to explore the lair of our restless sleep.
