Black Dahlia is a Berlin-based songwriter, musician, and performance artist within the underground music scene.
Performances driven by 80’s style synth-pop goth sounds alongside a theatrical stage presence, her lyrical references live deep amongst science fiction, post-apocalyptic ideas, and the celebration of creative liberties.
Initially, in 2015, she was known for forming a hyper-vintage-pop star project (Daisy) in the Sydney art scene. She curated an act that included explosive avant-garde performance art, and sexual freedom, and choreographed multiple dancers who performed with her at events and festivals. Then in 2018, she formed her current project, Black Dahlia.
Along with live and DJ performances in Sydney and Melbourne, she has also released on labels such as Up North Records (Au), Deep Scan (Au), Insane Industry (Italy), Idlestates (Scotland), X-IMG (Berlin), Body Musick (Colombia), and The Brvtalist (Berlin).
Her debut tape release, Animasochist (X-IMG - 2021), was an exploration and slapback to the EBM/Industrial/New Beat male-dominated music scene. Bending samples and sounds from vintage pornographic films, this tape release was her ultimate purge of fetishism and sexual freedom.
Her most recent release, Semantic Satiation (The Brvtalist - 2022), was a culmination of video art collaboration, industrial machinery sounds, and inspiration drawn from the cult movie classic, The Crow.
Following this, Black Dahlia followed the release of the single with several shows and festival dates, performing alongside such acts as Lucy Cliche, Kim Gordon, Nils Frahm, Spiritualized, Chelsea Wolfe, Lingua Ignota, SNTS, SPFDJ, Paula Temple, Kobosil, Rebel Yell, Buzz Kull, Ptwiggs, and Schacke.
